DESIGNER / SEASONAL GENES

Designer markings are often very flashy or novel in their appearance, in order to get one, your suka's sire or dam needs to have it, and then it has the chance of appearing or you can purchase the gene while it's in season. Designer Markings are paired with a ♚ Symbol to let a user know that the marking is available for use and live.

❓ Star Members ★ may purchase designer genes at any time, if they are availability in the gene-availability chart, or if you have a Designer Gene Token to apply regardless of availability.

❗ Designer Genes will need an open UNCOMMON gene-slot to apply to. If your pup/semi-custom has no uncommon markings available, the designer gene will have no room to be placed on the suka.

❗ Designer Genes lean paternal (sire).

  • If the Sire has a DG = 30% pass rate / pup

  • If the Dam has a DG = 25% pass rate / pup

  • If both parents present the SAME DG = 85% pass rate / pup

Here is an example of a Designer gene appearing on a pup geno.

corpse Season: fall

Corpse is a very distinct skeletal marking that appears atop the suka (typically above all other markings, but does not need to be, so long as the minimal is fully visible).

The style/placement/design of the 'skeleton' or 'skull face' are up to the user, the most default style on could follow is simply pulling up a dog anatomy guide and use it as a reference. Otherwise things like "teeth" or the throat/spinal markings seen on the examples above are stylization elements that are okay to include. Corpse should ALWAYS have a hard edge, and maybe have (3-4) softly expressed edge areas, so long as the marking is not heavily blurry, overly blended, etc.

Corpse is rather color friendly in hues, but prefers to be significantly darker or lighter than the base, if not then black and cream/white work as well. Gradients are also acceptable, but try to avoid 2-toned Corpse.

✓ Corpse is a FAKE WHITE marking, meaning it may act as a white marking (lie above all other markings) if it is pure/near white and not cream, eggshell, or off-white.

PLASMA Season: fall

Plasma is a blood-red locked color that appears on the under jaw, half of face, chest, shoulders, and on occasion the elbows, belly. However, it's clear that Plasma begins from 1-2 main hotspots, and will "burst" out from there, like infection.

The Plasma speckling does not tend to stretch very far from the hotspot points, and instead any spotting should be a direct result of the Plasma burst itself (in both style, color, and placement). Plasma is a mixture of soft and hard edges, giving the illusion of seeing blood or blood flow from beneath the suka's skin. The extent of how soft the marking must be can vary per user style, so long as there's a clear "soft" area next to your normal/"hard" edged areas.

This marking is made (usually) of 3 color layers, all red, and all contrasting one another well enough to create depth.

✓ This marking is color-locked and must be chosen from the red palette provided.

This marking may be done by hand or with the enhancement of brushes, but there should not be heavy texture or be literal blood-splatter brush sets.

OPAL Season: fall-WINTER

Opal (+Op) is a modifier, it will appear in the pup genotype string like normal modifiers do if the gene passes down. Opal causes at least one part of the suka coat to be casted over in a pearly cool colored sheen, similar to Iri, but more prominent in some cases, overtaking the entire coat. Opal has 3 variants that designers may choose from and cannot be mixed & matched:

  1. Marked Opal: Opal that effects one or more markings, it can effect or "touch" all markings, but this variation requires all markings to remain visible, similar to Greying. But it is up to the user how many markings need to be opal colored.

  1. Smooth Opal: The base color is locked to either the white/black palette, and the opal-palettes may be used to create a soft sable like nuancing to the coat. It will show no other markings except for Free Markings. (Similar to Creme/Greying)

  1. Rough Opal: Creates a cloudy-stormy look over the entire coat (again locking the base to the white/black palettes), can also cause snow-like white spotting inside of the cool-colored parts ONLY.

Opal should never be 1 singular color, instead it should be a soft gradient, or well blended 2-4 tones of pastel color.

Opal must either lock to a chosen marking (1 at minimum) or can effect ALL markings + base coat or Opt to do a full cloudy coat.

HOLOGRAPHIC Season: WINTER [Created by SkyStar261!]

Holographic / Holo will only effect (1) marking of the user's choice or may instead replace all markings and effect the entire coat. This modifier will turn the marking/coat in a silver, glittery iridescent marking. It will create very fine speckling inside of the marking which can spread outside of the marking.

The base of the marking will turn a whiteish-silver, silver-blue, or stoney grey base, with an abundant iridescent color spread softly atop this base color. Then the user may add fine dusting atop in various colors to better give the illusion of light hitting the suka's coat, causing it to shimmer.

MINIMUM: At a minimum, Holo must effect the entirety of (1) marking your suka shows. It will completely override other modifiers, or color mutations, meaning this can appear on Albino, Shadowmark, and Shubunkin (1 layer of) spots, and so on.

MAXIMUM: At a maximum, Holo will engulf the coat in the base grey/silvers, and create glittering dust across the whole suka in either minimal or maximum fashions, however a requirement is that no other markings may appear, except WHITE markings.

TIPS: Create your marking, lock the layer, and use a large speckle brush that you like to block out your iridescent color patterns. Further define the marking patches if you'd like to, then n a new layer, repeat the process but with a more sparse/minimal dust/speckle brush, allow some speckling to fall outside the marking in a neat manner, set the layer to something fun like Overlay/Softlight/etc. After this, on a new layer, use a regular pen to make a few handmade spots, that are brighter / glimmering more than the rest for depth.

RECESSIVE HOLO (-Ho) Recessive Holo will only show glitter dusting, similar to snow, it will only show the spots but not effect any particular markings. It will not require the silver/grey base colors to use. The glitter should either be handmade and very fine/small, or a sparse brush may be used, so long as the glitter does not "clump" in any areas. Halos are okay, and colors should mostly consist of ROYGBIV style coloring, in smooth gradients. The most common colors to begin with would be Green, Blue, and Purples.

CARIBOU Season: WINTER

Caribou is a distinctive cream or white marking that blankets most of the neck, shoulders, and side torso in a symmetrical 'white' marking. Caribou should resemble the two examples and not stray far from this concept, however slight stylization of the marking is still open to the creator, so long as it looks like a Caribou's white markers (and stays out of the 'x' ranges).

✓ Caribou allows for small nuances of color on the marking, so long as it remains majorly white or LIGHT cream in color (muted creams , especially on certain bases, will be denied).

✓ Nuances must be well blended, and not heavy in the typical gradient style allowed for other markings.

✓ Caribou should ALWAYS have a defined (hard) edge, and maybe have (3-4) softly expressed edge areas, so long as the marking is not heavily blurry, overly blended, etc.
