"CROSSCUT"

Crosscut will take your base color and add another base color onto it, to create a "cross section" of two different colors, rather than a true mix of colors, known as Cross Colors. Similar to Cross Foxes, the Crosscut will cover 35-55% of your suka in a different base color.

  • Crosscut is similar to Restricted Greying in that it softly expresses itself across the coat while remaining distinct from the original color.

  • By default, Crosscut offers an optional "quilled" like quality, where it may be painted, detailed with fur, and so on.

  • When interacting with any Seal family genes, Crosscut will show ABOVE those genes.

  • Crosscut will also allow markings to shift color gradients more drastically when those markings overlap onto the crosscut color.

Coverage & Shape

Crosscut tends to occur in at least 2 hotspots at ~35-40% coverage, and does not span pass 55% in coverage. It should cover in theory a little less than half or half the entire suka in a different color. These hotspots do not need to be exact placement, but if you choose a hotspot, your marking should cover the area decently enough to be considered passing.

NOT PASSING

  • If Crosscut covers more than 60% absolute maximum, considering painterly lines/fur.

  • If Crosscut is not softly edged or blurred/blended.

  • If Crosscut (color) is barely visible against the original color base.

BORDERLINE

When painting or heavily covering the suka, it can be easy for their original base color to become lost. Make sure even with markings present, admins can clearly color pick your (2) base colors due to this gene. However, admins will be slightly lenient with leaking outside of the "max" areas.

PASSING TIPS

  • This marking can create excessive ticking, similar to heavily sabled dogs. However, Crosscut can only be a color + a nuance gradient, so make sure there is not too many tones of color that stray from the crosscut/base colors.

  • Crosscut can be effected by modifiers (see ex. 3)

  • Crosscut can still occur with Cross Colors, but Crosscuts to don't inherently produce Cross Colors.
