DOMINANT SOMATIC (ST)
Dominant Somatic will increase the spread to a minimum/maximum coverage area of 70-80%. Breed dominant genes by pairing two somatics together, creating a 25% chance per offspring to pass it.
RESTRICTED SOMATIC / "FALSE SOMATIC" (-St / -ST)
Restricted Somatic is the recessive form of Somatic and will appear as "False Somatic" in the phenotype area. It will cause the somatic to optionally lighten to a lighter slate grey and will reduce the coverage area significantly. False may look more like a big merle chunk, and must remain as 1 solid piece.
"SOMATIC"
Somatic is a semi-chimeric marking that covers over 50-60% of the body (on the visible side of the import) in a black or slate grey. Somatic does not break apart into many small patches like merle, and instead remains as one or two large, connected patches that wrap across the body. The edges of Somatic are not circular (resembling something like a black Piebald or Paint) but more fur like, and can be more uniform and cleanly made. Somatic does not exhibit any spotting within the black/grey, but can have slightly irregular edging. Somatic usually sits over most all other markings except for white markings.

Coverage & Shape
Somatic must cover at least 50% of the visible import, it should remain as 1-2 large connected pieces and should not be extremely clean cut as if it is mimicking a marking. Though it does not need extremely irregular edges, just an implied asymmetry. There is no minimal placement area nor a max area, just a % amount of coverage.

Somatic will not pass if most of it is hidden on the side we cannot visibly see (right side flank/neck/etc)

BORDERLINE
Borderline somatic may break into more than 1 solid piece, at max 2-3 large pieces.

PASSING TIPS

Covering at least half the face, 1 entire leg, some of the neck+flank, and some of the other legs or tail should bring you to enough coverage to pass.

(?) False Somatic must be darker than the base and grey, black, or any color natural relative to the base that is also desaturated.
gradient friendly
This marking may take up to 2 smoothly blended colors as a gradient. The gradient must be chosen from the palette (such as: grey + dark blackish blue, etc)
