DEITIES

Deities are found generously throughout the culture and history in the lands of Khivine, so much so that people even to this day, believe that the deities can be spoken to, praised, and believed in when it comes to divinity in the world. There is little to say whether or not the gods actually exist, though some may argue Tsiuri are a sign of the gods themselves, others still remain skeptical. Whatever the belief may be, here are some deities one must be aware of when traversing this world.

Deities may be gifted and spoken to at the Wisp Tree, with the chance that they may reward you for your faith and praise. However, more often than not, you will find deities interacting with you during Spiritual Quests, which are only unlocked after Spiritual Ascension is reached.

(All gods have some description of their looks, however users may depict the god differently in the way which their Tsiuri sees said god.)

GOD OF THE LAND [also known as God of Khivine]

AEUS

Aeus is said to take on the appearance of a waterbuck with tall horns, rich amber eyes, and the back end of a zebra with tawny and brown stripes. The way Aeus speaks of the land is to keep it safe, to treasure the land, and to restore the dying trees so that they may continuously breathe back life into the creatures around it. Honoring the world on which one walks is a sacred feeling, to understand that each animal and plant adds a sense of vibrancy to the lands. Aeus wants to see the world flourish, he considers all creatures and life beneath his loving yet firm gaze to be his children. Aeus is a caring but stern father, considered to be the father of all living beings. Refusing to live in an ascended state, Aeus roams the mortal plain to become one with his children, a large buck living peacefully in this world...Somewhere...

GODDESS OF NIGHT & DAY

NETIA

Netia, the eccentric daughter of Aeus and Iris is said to bear the appearance similar to what’s known as a jackalope, with fading stripes cascading down her back. Netia in her youth had a slightly concerning fascination with manipulation of her father’s land. Turning over rocks and playing in puddles soon turned to reforming mountains and creating lakes. However, her manipulation of the lands caused scary amounts of animals to be dispersed or die entirely, causing her father dismay. Aeus approached her and asked of her consideration for those around her, to control her will to reconstruct and let her powers lay in dormancy for the sake of the earth. In her young anger, she began to spread wildfires, and create natural disasters with a single blink. Aeus banished Netia from the land of mortals after killing his wife in one of her wildfires, now she forever roams the ascended plains fairly alone, slightly bitter, and always watching for a chance to destroy something her father treasures.

GODDESS OF FERTILITY

IRIS

Iris is the goddess of fertility, while most are not sure of her appearance, many depictions of her are similar to that of an all white hare with a ring of white roses around her head. Iris is a fairly ginger god, one who was crafted from the white roses that Aeus passed daily on his way to the the watering hole. He saw beauty and infinite life within these flowers, they looked pure, and always bloomed at the beginning of spring signaling a fresh start. Aeus loved these flowers so much, he crafted from them Iris, and while he let her live with free will, she often followed him with stars in her eyes. She was a naive girl, but accompanied Aeus nonetheless in his mission to constantly care for and restore the planet. The two had a daughter, Netia, and in one of her tantrums, Iris was engulfed in a wildfire. She still lives amongst the ascended plain, now aware of how easily life may be taken, so she returns life in a way she can through the fertility of others.

GOD OF BOUNTY

TYNOS

Tynos, commonly referred to as a dog-like creature with human hands or a baboon, is the god of abundance and bounty. His craftsmanship is unlike any other and it is said Tynos could create objects of use out of thin air and a few sticks, the first to do so. Traversing the lands as he saw fit and taking from the earth resources to craft his inventions at will; approached by Aeus and asked why he was stripping the trees of their bark and the rivers of their clay, Tynos skeptically presented his newest craft to the stag. Pleasantly surprised with the way Aeus studied it instead of crushing his with his clumsy hooved feet, and Aeus told him to teach the others in the lands how to make crafts too. Tynos wasn’t sure about sharing his genius with others, but with Aeus gentle coaxing and guidance, Tynos began to teach the others in the forest how to make tools, vases, traps, and more, being one with the land and living off its use as well. It is said Tynos lives on the mortal plain, but is incredibly reclusive now.

GODDESS OF GREED & PROSPERITY

PAARIS

Paaris, a beautifully coated jaguar, said to have a pelt with multiple sheens of yellows, reds, and oranges, with rich thick black rosettes across her body. The goddess often stays tucked away in the treetops, and the only way to know of her approach is the way in which her Krona pouch jingles. Paaris was said to be the first creature, even before dog and domestic feline, to approach humans with unmatched confidence and prowess in her ability to overtake each and every one of them.  They feared her and cowered when she arrived to their settlements, they offered her meat and other foods, but she merely rolled her eyes. Nothing they had was of value to her until the gleam of a newly polished Krona took her eye, and ever since her eyes always lit spectacularly around that lovely coin. She asked for blessings in the form of coin she could not ever use, but that was of no matter to her, she collected coin and other shiny objects anyhow. It was said she kept them all away in her den, where she laid on her pile of jewels, money, and treasures every night with a sweet purr. It was easy said that she snuck into settlements in the dead of night to steal from the richest homes because no one could be as greedy as her. It was until one day that Paaris ended her stealing from settlements, as she laid eyes upon Kaltris and offered all of her own wealth collected from centuries for marriage. When Kaltris was flattered by the offer, they married yet Paaris still took to slithering amongst the treetops, watching her wife from afar with a protective gaze. It is said she still oftens visits the houses of the rich or vain, she’s often seen as a bad omen of loss fortune.

GODDESS OF FAME

KALTRIS

Kaltris is said to be a sleek coated hound with a vibrant white iridescent coat, which simmers in a beautiful array of blues and greens as she strolls among the city. They say she walked down from the heavens, should the heavens exist, straight into the early city of Nence to bestow upon them her beauty and nothing more. Others claimed that when they prayed to her and offered her gifts, within the next few days their balding would stop, their eyes would change colors, their skin would become flawless. She was renowned as first, the Goddess of Beauty, and when images and stories of her spread to neighboring cities, people from all over came to see her. She secondly become known as the Goddess of Fame, people idolized her, even if she never spoke to them. It was said her fur was made of dragon scales, others insisted she was blessed simply by the heavens to remind them of Iris’ purity of creation. No one knows what Kaltris’ purpose was, but all knew she was rather vain; she attacked those who did not fit her visual standards, and rolled her eyes are poverty-stricken gifts, only wanting to be gifted fine things. When she was approached by the Goddess of Greed, Paaris she was immediately overwhelmed with riches and treasures she had never seen before, antiques. Overjoyed with her new gifts, she accepted Paaris’ marriage proposal, but continued to live in the center of the city. The statue of Kaltris in the middle of Nence is said to be her, but no one can be sure, gifts, flowers, and fine silks are often left at the feet of this pearly statue, said to bring beauty to the vain and materialistic city.

GODDESS OF IMAGINATION & MISCHIEF

VOGMOS

Son of Tynos, Vogmos is most often times depicted as a winged animal, with the flattened face of a bird, the limbs and body of a feline, and hands of his father, almost always covered in dyes and plant pigments. Tynos grew at his father's side late in life, in the reclusivity of Tynos’ cave far from others. Vogmos often found himself staring out the mouth of the cave, watching the birds fly and wondering was what out here below the tree tops. Vogmos was told that people lived down there, and they would hurt him with the tool Tynos so unfortunately and hastily gave to them. Vogmos said humans would not harm him because he would fly away, Tynos called him naive like Iris. Spending many of his days learning his father’s crafts and inventions but he wanted something more than usefulness, he wanted to see beauty, and color outside of the grey cave walls. Taking it upon himself in a single night to fly away, down into the forests, he met Aeus who showed him the color of different flowers which Vogmos painted the trees and bodies of animals and himself with. He made rabbits into fearsome tigers, and lambs into lions. He added color to the plants which bloomed with none and flew into the sky each night to paint it with oranges and purples as the sun set on Netia’s watch. The world found itself muted before Vogmos’, paintings from centuries ago would never be as bright and bold as the world Vogmos colored.

GOD OF MISFORTUNE

HAXNOS

The handsome black stallion, with a double set of ram horns atop his wavy black mane, he shimmered in the moonlight and his calm exterior was slightly harrowing. The way his silver eyes caught the gazes of others made them uneasy, though they were unsure why. Along the lands one day Haxnos happened upon the emotional unstable reflection of the Goddess Netia; his soothing and deep voice asked her what was wrong, and upon hearing his odd voice she said nothing at all. Haxnos had calmed the anger that raged within her for years, being the first one to speak to her in centuries. They spoke all night about how they had each been outcasted from the world around them, how they each held a certain tinge of bitterness, the stallion even offering to help Netia seek revenge upon her father’s decision. She asked how, and he told her that with just a touch of her power, he could kill Aeus’ creations day by day. Petty, she remarked and yet the thought of destroying her father’s creations without him knowing caused her to be giddy. She granted Haxnos’ request and he made do on his promise, when he galloped trees died in his wake, when he drank from a stream animals who drank too dropped dead in the next day. And every night Haxnos returned to the lake where Netia’s reflection stayed, and he spoke to her when no one else did; he offered his comfort to her and only her. The longer they stayed together, eventually marrying, the stronger Haxnos became, allowing his wife to rest with her barrage of disasters and instead trade them in for small amounts of death and small amounts of destruction. No one who has ever seen Haxnos lives long enough to do anything but sketch his image before their dying breaths.
